Québec

Québec's rules for online play

Québec's own online gaming site is lotoquebec.com, run by Loto-Québec. To play there, a person must be 18 or older, live in Québec and be physically in the province. Québec has no licensing regime for private online operators.

In a regulatory impact analysis from about 2016, Québec's Ministry of Finance addressed this point. It wrote that, apart from Loto-Québec's site, all online gaming sites are illegal. A 2016 law ordered internet providers to block such sites. The Superior Court struck that law down in July 2018. That ruling does not make private sites legal.

The Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission, or KGC, licenses online gaming within and from the territory. A KGC online licence is not an authorization from Québec. The question remains disputed between Kahnawà:ke and Québec.

The venue

Playground and fake online ads

Playground does not operate an online gaming site of any kind. Its poker tables and gaming machines are on site at 1500 Route 138, and each player needs a Playground Player's card. Ads or sites that say Playground offers online gaming are fraudulent. In September 2023, the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission issued a warning about Facebook ads. Those ads falsely said that Playground offers online gaming.

This guide

The ads on this guide

Kahnawake Casino Guide is an independent guide, not a casino and not the venue's own site. It takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear on the home page only, and each one is marked Ad. There are three: a button in the header, a block just below the first screen and a block near the end of the page.

All three lead to one private online casino partner that pays the guide a commission and can change. It is not lotoquebec.com and has no connection with any gaming venue in Kahnawà:ke. Québec has no licence for private online casinos, and the partner holds no authorization from Québec. Gambling: Help and Referral answers 24/7, free and confidential, at 1-800-461-0140.
